Hope Covenant Church began as a Bible Study in December of 2003.  On Palm Sunday, 2004, the first of 5 public “preview worship services” were held at the El Dorado Civic Center.  God blessed this new church with rapid growth, and on September 19th, 2004, Hope Covenant began weekly Sunday worship.

During its first year, Hope Covenant continued to welcome many new families and individuals, as well as build and equip leaders for foundational ministries.  We also participated in community events such as “Prairie Port” by handing out free water. Now in our second year, we continue to be driven by two passions:

  • to welcome people into the family of God (Evangelism)
  • to grow in our love for God and love for each other (Discipleship)

Hope Covenant is currently negotiating the purchase of at least 6 acres of land in El Dorado.  Our plan is to rent worship space until we are ready to build a permanent facility.

Like all Evangelical Covenant Churches, Hope is an autonomous, self-governing fellowship with congregational polity.

Our Vision …
“…to be an authentic, joyful community, where real people
build life-changing relationships with God and each other.”

Our Core Values …

The Bible- We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and the only perfect rule for faith, doctrine, and conduct (2 Timothy 3:16).  We are committed to helping children and adults learn to know and understand the Bible so they can grow in their love for God and discover the great adventure God has for them!

Missions- Lost and hurting people matter to God and therefore should matter to the church (Mark 2:17; Luke 19:10).  We actively seek to build relationships with people who are yet outside God’s family.

Optimistic Joy- Because God has the first and last word in our lives, the Christian life should be marked by a deep joy (1 Peter 1:8-9).  We believe this joy should be reflected in our worship, and in our friendships with each other.  And yes, we think Christians should have lots of fun together.

Relevance- Jesus wants His church to be culturally relevant, yet uncompromising to the truth (John 14:6, 1 Corinthians 9:19ff).  At Hope, we seek to be a church that is contemporary, but with deep roots.  We value and build on 2000 years of Christian history, yet believe that modern language, contemporary music and the arts are powerful tools for worship and learning.

Teamwork- Christ equips each believer with a spiritual gift(s) to be used for the common good (1 Corinthians 12:7).  The work of God’s Kingdom belongs to all of Christ’s people.  We are committed to helping young and old discover and use their Spirit-given gifts to honor God.

Love- The unmistakable mark of God’s people is love (John 13:35).  We believe loving, honest, transparent relationships should be the norm in the church.  We are committed to living out the great commandment … to love God, and to love our neighbor as ourselves.

Prayer- Prayer is powerful and effective and can transform the hearts and circumstances of people (James 5:16).  Our passion is to model dependence on God in prayer as an integral part of our fellowship together.
